Travel information
Work in progress, thanks for your patience!
The workshop will be hosted by ICTP in Trieste.
- How to reach Trieste
Trieste can be reached by plane using the nearby Trieste airport, or the relatively more distant Venice airport, or Treviso airport.- From Trieste airport: Trieste can be reached by train (the train station is directly connected to the airport terminal), bus, or taxi (this could be individual taxi services, and/or shared solutions, like GoOpti). However, if you arrive in the late evening or in the early morning, please, note that trains and buses could be not so frequent, or not available at all. Then, taxi would be your only option.
- From Venice airport: Trieste can be reached by first taking local transportation to Venezia Mestre train station, and then taking a train to Trieste, or, which is probably simpler, via FlixBus.
- From Treviso airport, you may want to take local transportation to Treviso train station, and then reach Trieste by train (this is the same train line that connects Venice to Trieste).

- How to reach ICTP from Trieste
- Whether your accommodation is in the ICTP campus or downtown, you may have/want to move between Trieste and ICTP. You can do this by taking bus number 6; the timetable will change in June, and the new one is not yet available. Taking a bus requires to buy a ticket that usually needs to be validated when getting on board. However, if you plan to move more than just a few times, we would like to recommend the TPL FVG app, which will allow you to conveniently buy tickets in Trieste (actually, in the entire Friuli Venezia Giulia region). Unfortunately at the moment the TPL FVG app and website have very limited English support, please ask us if you need help with them.
